Born on December 19, 1983 in Corpus Christi, Shawn was raised amongst his two brothers by his single mother who immigrated from Spain all by herself with no family, no support system, and no backup plan. In his early childhood, Shawn loved being in the water and soon discovered his dream to become a Navy SEAL.

Shawn’s early environment was defined by chaos, instability, and poverty until his family moved to a ranch in the middle of nowhere. With no distractions and no traditional structure, he had nothing but time to think. In that isolation, he made a pivotal decision: He was going to become a Navy SEAL. It was no longer a dream, but a total commitment.

Despite moving through seven different schools, Shawn discovered discipline through high-level sports in high school, yet his life remained far from stable. At 16, Shawn discovered who his real father was. He travelled to Wisconsin to meet him, making the conscious choice to disregard his resentment and embrace forgiveness. He struck out on his own a few months later and learned how to be fiercely independent.

Shawn earned his degree from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, but something was still missing. At 25, he stopped ignoring the calling and enlisted in the Navy to be a SEAL. People doubted him, called him too short, too small, told him he wasn't built for it. He proved them wrong, and the training itself became a masterclass in humility that taught him to forgive others and himself.

Initially envisioning a 30-year military career, Shawn left the Navy after 8 years and learned that pivoting isn’t failing. After returning to the civilian world, he quickly realized that his background wasn’t a master key to opportunities. He had to build his now-flourishing executive protection company, Iconiq Security, from the ground up while learning every lesson the hard way.

Shawn’s work with Alex Jones became one of the most visible examples of his ability to lead transformation under pressure. Training Alex every morning required more than workouts; it required discipline, accountability, trust, and the kind of consistency few people can sustain. In eight months, Alex lost more than 60 pounds, and that success became a turning point that helped Shawn step into a larger role as a coach, leader, and public voice.

Shawn is engaged to Jennifer Loree, an exceptional metal artist from Edmonton who built her career from the ground up and is the only person who consistently outworks him. Together they are raising four children between Texas and Canada, working toward one home under one roof. Beyond family, Jen is the reason the podcast exists — she saw Shawn's potential long before he could see it himself and pushed him to step out and take the risk.

For years, fear had paralyzed Shawn. Stepping into the public eye and inviting judgment was the one thing his career hadn't prepared him for. It took Jen recognizing his potential and Matt Alvarez, the man who built Joe Rogan's studio, finally convincing him to do a podcast. The moment Shawn sat in that chair, the fire he didn't know was missing had somewhere to go and it's still burning today.
